JJS Electronics partners with Lutterworth College for Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme

With an eye to the future, Lutterworth-based JJS Electronics Ltd, part of the £30m Paragon Electronics Group, has recently recruited four Engineering students for its Advanced Apprenticeship scheme.

JJS worked closely with the Learning South Leicestershire (LSL) Centre at Lutterworth College to define the scheme and identify suitable candidates. John Redmond, Assistant Principal at Lutterworth College said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with JJS Electronics Ltd and the fact that they have selected some of our students for their Apprenticeship scheme. We look forward to the prospect of additional future opportunities for our students as JJS intend that the scheme will repeat each year.” Commencing in September 2011, the scheme is part of JJS’ commitment to continue to develop its own electronics and manufacturing professionals. The structured two-year apprenticeship will be followed by further specialist training and ongoing career development initiatives. The varied programme covers electronic and electromechanical manufacturing and, in addition to studying for NVQ level 3 / 4, the Apprentices will spend time in each of the eight areas within JJS’ facility including assembly, test, engineering, QA and commercial departments.

The Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme will complement the Graduate scheme that has been running at Paragon for over ten years. Paragon Group Director of Engineering, Russell Poppe, explains: “As a leading EMS provider, we’re continually investing in our team to ensure our customers have some of the industry’s most talented individuals at their disposal. Our Graduate scheme has been very successful and our partnership with Lutterworth College is another example of our commitment to develop talent across the group. The introduction of the apprenticeship scheme will make sure that we continue to employ skilled staff who will grow with our organisation to support our customers into the future.”
