JJS extends in-house expertise with valuable new appointment

JJS Electronics Ltd. has appointed Nigel Burton as Principle Process Engineer, a role which will see him use his extensive electronics manufacturing experience to uphold the company’s renowned quality commitment. The appointment is part of JJS’ response to recent business growth as it becomes the first choice EMS partner for European OEMs.

Nigel, a time-served Harwell apprentice, brings with him 28 years’ experience gained in a host of manufacturing roles. Previously working with a leading broadcast systems manufacturer as a Senior Production & Process Engineer, Nigel’s appointment is part of JJS’ ongoing investment programme in people, systems and equipment taking place at its facilities in Lutterworth, UK and Chomutov, the Czech Republic. This comprehensive initiative designed to maintain the company’s world-class customer service levels amid the demands of recent growth, has included the installation of an additional state-of-the-art SMT line featuring a DEK Horizon 03i screen printer, Mydata MYDX100 DX14 pick and place machine, two BTU Pyramaz 100A solder reflow ovens and a Goepel Opticom Advancedline CLX4M AOI system. With the addition of the new Mydata SMT line, the facility now has three high speed and high accuracy placement machines and can accommodate the most up-to-date package styles including 01005, 0201, 0402, QFP, QFN, ball grid array (BGA), microBGA, and chip scale packages. The in-line AOI system will enhance throughput and quality for JJS customers throughout Europe, extending the team’s capabilities even further.

Nigel joins the team to support the development of JJS’s manufacturing systems, processes and resources. A motorsport fanatic, the new addition at JJS is also a Formula Ford 2000 mechanic for a family-owned race team in his spare time. Commenting on his new role, Nigel explains: ‘With the recent arrival of the new SMT line I have joined JJS at a really exciting time. The synergies between motor racing and SMT assembly are more than you would think; attention to detail is everything. Working methodically and under pressure you are required to deliver results.”
